VHTs in Butambala district have high morale for Family planning activities, they even call themselves “Family planning Champs”.
Family Strength for a Better Child (FASBEC) with funding from USAID/ Pathfinder has been implementing the USAID/Family Planning Activity project and they have endeavored to put up strategies to ensure that family planning uptake improves in this community.
Pathfinder sub granted FASBEC to handle the community engagement and ensure that there is demand creation for the modern Family Planning methods in the districts of Butambala and Gomba.
FASBEC project officers use the already existing community structures like the VHTs, religious leaders, youth champions and others while implementing the USAID/FPA project in these districts.
The Chief Administrative Officer of Butambala district Mr. Musingye Edward at the inception said, “I really don’t like to see children suffer and go without food and other necessities and yet their parents are alive, they all ought to plan better, and am a champion for that.”
The districts leadership is willing to partner with FASBEC, 3FHI and Pathfinder to ensure that the USAID/FPA project which is being implemented is a success in Butambala and Gomba Districts.
